3 Things You Could Do with Old BINGO Cards
One of the biggest reasons why people get into arts and crafts is because they’ve got some stuff lying around that they’re about to throw out, but realize that there’s a way to “upcycle” them into something new. It’s easy to find new ways to use even the most seemingly useless items, and even that old bingo set you have in your attic could see new life!
Bingo has come a long way, originating in a game called Lo Giuoco del Lotto d’Italia in the 1500s. What was once a lottery game has now become one of the most recognizable card games on the planet, with a booming industry worth $557 million in the UK alone. In fact, the industry is so strong in the UK, Gala Bingo, one of the more renowned bingo operators, has also managed to branch out into online and mobile bingo, in addition to having over 100 bingo clubs according to This is Money.
Still, there’s no denying that the game has fallen from its heyday back in the 50s and 60s. Reports by the Independent say that “the people’s love affair with the bingo ticket and the dabber pen appears to be on the wane, with visits down from 80 million in 2005, to 43 million today,” as reported by the Independent. Many people now choose to play the game at home on occasion, whether online, or with actual bingo cards.
If you or someone in your family had once been a fan of bingo, there’s a chance that you’d played the game at home too, buying one of the many different kinds of bingo sets available on the market, and then forgetting about it after the family get-together. If you’ve got one of these bingo sets and are wondering what you can do with those cards and chips, here are some quick crafts you can make!
Bingo Card Notepads
If you’re looking for a nice, simple project, you can take your bingo cards and use them as covers for custom-made notepads! Punch holes through the top of the card and through the sheets of paper you’d like to use, then thread some string or yarn through the holes to bind the notebook.
Bingo Card Collage
Because bingo cards often have that vintage look, they make perfect backdrops for collages. Use a variety of images to create cards for just about any occasion, be they Halloween, Christmas, or birthdays!
Bingo Card Bag Tags
Simple and easy to make, these bag tags really only require a bit of patience as you cut up old bingo cards and thread string through them. You can create them in any shape, and use stickers and other pictures to make them more unique. Stick several bingo cards together to make a tougher tag.

This printable bingo colors game is a perfect color match game for kids to practice their color recognition. My kids love bingo so much that we have a whole page dedicated to free printable bingo cards for kids. My favorite part about this Bingo game is that by changing the bingo markers that you use (shapes, snowman, heart, insects, etc.) you can then theme this activity to any season or holiday.
Printable Bingo Colors Game
This is definitely one of the best colors and shapes activities for preschoolers and toddlers. Kids will have to call out colors and make a visual notice of whether they have that particular color on their board.
Materials Required:
Please note that affiliate links are used in this post.
- The free printable color bingo cards (You can find this at the bottom of this post.)
- Bingo Chips or markers (This could be any one of these: buttons, mini erasers, pom poms, literally anything you have at home that could work, paper clips…)
- Laminator with pouches.
Preparing the printable bingo cards for kids
Print out the activity on to card stock, cut and then laminate. I laminate all material that I know we will use more than once. This makes it stronger (and unlikely to bend), it keeps it from getting stains from kids fingers and it allows me to use it through more than one child.
Once you have prepared it I then give it to the kids with the manipulative of my choice.
You could have them use colored buttons and have them choose the same colored button to the one that was called out and then place this on their mat.
You could use this worksheet for toddlers and let them organize buttons and other colored items to the matching ones on the game board thus turning it into a color match game too!

Make it a winter themed bingo game by throwing in some cute mini snowman erasers.
Variation for the game board: You could use this game board for toddlers and preschool kids by letting them organize buttons and other colored items to the matching ones on the game board. You could do it as a race —-> The first one to organize all their colored buttons the fastest wins!
